Missing People - your sightings are vital in helping to bring families back together

In 2014, London postman, Vincent Micallef, was on his round when he was asked to help search for a missing child.

Immediately, he thought of the idea of using postmen and women to be the ‘eyes on the street.’ Ever since then, Royal Mail has been in partnership with Missing People – the UK’s only charity dedicated to bringing missing children and adults back together with their families.

Our sightings are vital, so Missing People have updated their system to improve location accuracy of the alert colleagues receive on their PDAs.

Press play to hear how proud Vincent is of the role Royal Mail plays in helping to reunite families with their loved ones.

Missing People’s director of fundraising and communication, Ross Miller, said: ‘Since working together with Royal Mail, we’ve issued more than 250 alerts for very high-risk children and adults across the UK

‘On average, around 70 per cent of the people that we alert for are found safe and well. If you receive an alert for a missing person in your area, all we ask you to do is be on the lookout and be aware.’
