Everyday inclusion

The aim of National Inclusion Week, from 28 September – 4 October, is to celebrate everyday inclusion in all its forms.
Royal Mail is committed to placing equality, diversity and respect at the heart of our business. Diversity and inclusion is about ensuring we create a positive working environment, where all our differences are valued and each of us feels comfortable bringing our whole selves to work.
It’s about having representation from a wide variety of groups but, more importantly, it’s about giving those groups a voice and an opportunity to contribute.
Being ‘Altogether Different’ means recognising our differences, respecting each other for the unique qualities we bring and using the diversity of our workforce to our advantage; learning from each other, supporting each other and utilising everyone’s contributions to enhance our collective performance.
Our Diversity Council oversees the diversity strategy for Royal Mail and holds our senior leaders to account on their commitments to diversity and inclusion. The Diversity Council is supported by six steering groups that advise and direct the business towards achieving inclusivity across all of the key strands of diversity.
This week, a number of diversity and inclusion events are being held across the business, from an online celebration event with our six diversity networks, to a Workplace Live event asking what more we can do to improve levels of inclusion at Royal Mail and ensure that each of us are respected and valued for who we are.
We’ll be bringing you updates and findings from all of these events, as well as colleague stories from different parts of the business, together with articles aimed at helping colleagues understand the importance of acceptance and how diversity and inclusion is relevant to all of us.
