Christmas casting

We’re looking for Royal Mail employees who want to star as elves or a very special Santa for our forthcoming Christmas campaign films.
Acting experience is obviously desirable, but more importantly, we’re looking for a ton of enthusiasm!
We’d like to get a little look at our colleagues’ suitability for the roles, so for now, we just need you to get in front of a camera and send in a quick film of yourself reading a script as soon as possible, as we’re currently casting.
Don’t fret. Your show reel doesn’t have to be at all polished, we just need a quick clip. If you’re interested, please simply record yourself in selfie mode reading the relevant script sections below and send your clip to socialteam@royalmail.com. Or if it’s a large file, please use WeTransfer.
Start by saying your name, location, and what role you’d like to audition for. You can use an accent or speak in a different voice to your normal one if you like, but you don’t have to. You can also go off-script and ad-lib slightly if you want to.
Santa
‘Hello there everyone! I think it’s time to read out some more of your letters to me, Santa! I’ve got a letter here from Elizabeth in Leeds, and she’d like a bike, and then there’s Timmy from Cardiff who’d like a play kitchen, and Samantha from Inverness who’d love a train set! How lovely!
‘If you’d like to write to me with your lists, please make sure you send them in to me nice and early.’
Christmas poem:
‘Months before Christmas
Each and every year
The posties at Royal Mail
Are full of festive cheer.’
Please note: This will be aimed at children and families and will include reading some items of Santa mail.
Elves
‘Hello! Today we’re going to make this lovely reindeer Christmas card! So, you’ll need some card, paint or ink, and some pens!
‘So, you need to carefully dab your finger in the paint like this, and then press carefully onto the card. Then once that’s dried, you need to draw a little red nose on the reindeer face, like this.
‘And then add some eyes, and antlers. Then add a little message to your friends or family, and done! Perfect!’
Greeting Santa
‘Oh, hello Santa, how are you today? (wave to camera).
Please note: This will be aimed at children and families. This piece focuses on creating a card, but for this clip, please just read the script – no actions needed!
