Bi Visibility Day

Today is all about recognising the ‘B’ in LGBT+!

Wednesday 23 September is Bi Visibility Day, an opportunity to celebrate the experiences, history and achievements of our bisexual friends, family and colleagues.

We know from one of our recent Employee Surveys that close to a thousand colleagues within the business identify as being bisexual. We want to show solidarity to our Bi colleagues, supporting them to ensure they feel comfortable and recognised at work.

The LGBT+ & Friends network recognises that bisexuality remains somewhat unseen in comparison to other sexualities and we therefore want to do all we can to change this. By creating a platform to celebrate the experiences and challenges of the bisexual community, we are more likely to create a culture of acceptance and appreciation – where we can bring our whole selves to work!

Today, we are asking connected colleagues with a work Outlook account to paste the following Bi Visibility Day message into your Out of Office. This is a great way to spread the word, educate others and make the ‘B’ in LGBT+ more visible.

We will also be engaging in a social media takeover, where we will share all things Bi and celebrate some of our ‘Bicons.’ Finally, we’ll be raising the Bi flag at our North West Hub and speaking to colleagues on RMTV to find out more about the day and why it’s important that we celebrate Bi Visibility.

Get involved

If you would like to set up a local network or in the main LGBT+ & Friends network, you can email the group at LGBT&Friends@royalmail.com. Equally, if you identify as Bi and want to share your story, get in touch and let them know.
