Our in-house charity is here to help if you need financial support

We have provided additional monies to our in-house charity, the Rowland Hill Fund (RHF), in order to give short-term support for colleagues who may be experiencing financial difficulties as a result of Covid-19.

The RHF was established in 1882 as a memorial to the great postal reformer and founder of the modern postal service, Sir Rowland Hill, who retired as Secretary of the Post Office in 1864.

From the earliest days of its existence, when it helped colleagues who fell on hard times during Queen Victoria’s reign, through to the present day, the Fund has pursued its aim of providing financial help wherever it occurs among colleagues, past and present.

The RHF aims to continue to make financial grants to those who need it, particularly during these challenging times, helping them with council tax arrears, medical expenses, disability aids, funeral expenses, household items and more - issues that can affect all of us at any point in our lives.

Look out for August Courier to hear how the Fund helped a family stay together by funding equipment to help their disabled daughter stay at home. Colleagues can apply to the Fund by sending an email to rhfhelpline@royalmail.com with their name, pay number and contact telephone number. An advisor will contact them within 24 hours to discuss their situation and ascertain whether help is available at this time.

You can also call the Fund on 0345 600 4586. Remember, it is not always about money – sometimes just a friendly voice at the end of a phone line can help you to discuss issues before they become a problem.

The helpline assists people of all ages, from different backgrounds, in difficult circumstances, and are non-judgemental in their outlook. The helpline is confidential and completely independent of Royal Mail. Your information will never be shared without your consent.
