KidsOut

KidsOut provides days out, toys and games to children affected by domestic violence

KidsOut is known as the ‘Fun & Happiness’ charity, providing positive experiences to enhance the welfare of children who have experienced domestic violence.

It is the only charity working with every Women’s Aid Federation refuge in the UK. Covid-19 has exacerbated the challenges faced by children living in refuge, many of whom have survived extreme trauma.

Most have experienced lockdown restricted to a single room with their mother and siblings, lacking personal comforts like toys and books. Often, families are too frightened to leave refuge in case they are found by their abuser, even for school.

KidsOut delivers fun and engaging activities and support for children and their mums to enjoy while in refuge, helping to promote good mental health and social and educational development. KidsOut also offer support to other disadvantaged groups, such as sensory rooms for disabled children and an online literacy resource called ‘World Stories’ to help the education and cultural integration of young people with English as a second language.

The charity has been hit hard by the impact of Covid-19, with all major fundraising events cancelled for a year, erasing KidsOut’s primary source of cash income. With more than £800,000 having been lost, the charity is dependent on donations, so they can continue to support the most vulnerable children at a time when it is needed now more than ever.

KidsOut is still planning ahead to try and provide the best possible festive season for children living in refuge. You can support these children by donating to KidsOut today.

  • £10 would provide a fun day out to the cinema for a child.
  • £20 would help give a supermarket voucher for a family to purchase essential groceries over the festive season.
  • £30 would fill a box of brand-new toys for a child in refuge at Christmas.
  • £50 would go towards the cost of a communal computer in a refuge, so that children can access remote learning resources.

With your help, KidsOut can bring smiles to children in refuge this Christmas. Click here to donate today.
