‘An exceptional student’

Joy’s dedication rewarded with a Distinction grade for new apprenticeship

Congratulations to assistant procurement manager, Joy Blank, who is one of the first to complete the new procurement apprenticeship and receive a Distinction grade from the Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (CIPS).

The Apprentice Academy has said it is very proud to announce that Joy is one of their first learners to complete the Level 4 procurement and supply chain apprenticeship.

Joy is responsible for the development and implementation of innovative sourcing plans, to deliver business benefits, across a range of spend and contract areas. Her hard work and dedication has been deservedly recognised with this grade, which was awarded by CIPS, who are the end-point assessment organisation.

‘When I was offered the chance to study Level 4 via an apprenticeship, funded by Royal Mail, I jumped at the chance,’ said Joy. ‘Receiving my results and passing each CIPS exam first time, gave me a great sense of achievement and validation that the effort exerted during revision was worth it.

‘My coach and tutor really supported me throughout the programme, which gave me the confidence to give it my all.’

Joy’s coach, Tara Pearson said: ‘She showed passion, dedication and commitment throughout the end-point assessment process, taking on board advice, showcasing her knowledge and applying everything she had learnt throughout the apprenticeship to her role at Royal Mail Group. I’m so pleased to see her achieve a well-deserved Distinction!’

Director of contract management, Helen Wilber, said: ‘Joy has been an exceptional student and at her final assessment, she showcased a brilliant piece of procurement activity that she had led. I had the privilege of being on the final panel as the technical expert, so was able to experience Joy’s performance first-hand – a very proud moment.’

The procurement apprenticeship is an 18 to 21-month programme, designed for employees who work within a purchasing or procurement and supply chain function. Typical learners have anything from six months to eight years procurement experience. The programme includes the CIPS Level 4 diploma qualification, regular one to one coaching with an experienced coach, learning resources and a series of interactive online workshops.
