Pride…inside

Unfortunately, due to the uncertainty around Covid-19, Royal Mail’s traditional ‘Summer of Prides’ has had to be postponed until next year.
Naturally, this has been a difficult decision, but it’s clearly the right thing to do to protect our people. That doesn’t, however, mean everyone needs to pack away their ‘Delivering with Pride’ T-shirts, glitter and rainbow bunting, as this Saturday, you can show your support for our LGBT+ colleagues by joining their ‘Pride Inside’ event on Zoom! Press play for more.
People planning & design support manager, Emma Eade, said: ‘The idea for our Pride Inside Zoom event came about after we suffered the massive disappointment of national Pride events being cancelled, due to the pandemic.
‘The idea was to put something in place to stay connected with as many of our LGBT+ & Friends network as we possibly could. We understand that the lockdown has been a tough time for everyone, with some people having had a tough time feeling so isolated. This is our way of reaching out and injecting a bit of fun into our network.
‘We want everyone to join the event decked out in glitter and fancy dress, waving their flags and celebrating all things Pride!’
LGBT+ & Friends steering group champion, Leon Evans, said: ‘This is the LGBT+ & Friends network’s fifth year of representing Royal Mail at Pride events and even though it’s very different this year, the network is still here and still with you! Pride is a celebration of all the parts of the LGBT+ community, including the freedoms we’ve fought for and the ones we’re still fighting for.
‘It’s a celebration of colour and sound and a calling for people to come together (obviously virtually in these different times!) to be there for each other and to stand up for each other. The transgender community needs our support more now than ever, so please be loud and visible allies.’
To get the invite details you’ll need to be a member of the LGBT+ & Friends network Facebook group and you will need to sign up in advance by emailing LGBT&Friends@Royalmail.com with your pay number and the email address you use to sign into Facebook.
