Wealth of experience

Craven Arms Delivery Office scoop double whammy

Congratulations to colleagues at Craven Arms Delivery Office, who have received two CEO and COO awards, one for each quarter.

The team won ‘Small Delivery Office of the Quarter’ for the North West region for the first and second quarter of 2019/2020.

The quarterly awards scheme is based on the units that score most highly across four key areas of performance measurement: safety, First Class quality, cost and productivity.

At the end of the year, we'll be presenting awards to the overall 'units of the year,' recognising the best performing units nationally. Winners will receive money to spend at their unit.

Craven Arms delivery office manager, Mark Laidler, collected the award from service delivery leader, Lee Martin. ‘Teamwork is what helps with the sorting,’ said Mark.  ‘Everything is done at pace.’

The team enjoys a wealth of experience, with many colleagues boasting more than two decades of service. Such knowledge and understanding of the area is vital, especially when so many customers live in houses that are named rather than numbered.

‘We’ve been faced with severe flooding in the area over the past few months with the office yard flooding twice, which has proven very testing,’ said Mark, ‘But the staff have gone the extra mile to ensure everyone gets their post where it’s been safe to do so.

‘Some of the rounds are over 90 miles long, so as you can imagine, you need some very dedicated people. Everyone works together as a team and this award shows just how hard this team work all year round. I’m really proud to manage such a great group of people.’

Postman, Michael Vickress said: ‘The office has a really friendly bunch of people, who all pull together.

‘Everyone always goes that extra mile to ensure all the mail is delivered every day come rain or shine and we’re all very passionate about what we do. It’s great to get recognition as one of the best small offices of the year.’
