We have added GPS delivery coordinates to our Track & Trace service

Sending and receiving customers of Tracked 24/48 and Special Delivery parcels can now be further assured that we’re fulfilling our delivery promises, thanks to the addition of GPS delivery coordinates to our Track & Trace system.

The GPS delivery coordinates are depicted visually on a map, showing exactly where an item has been delivered – whether to the receiving customer’s address, a local collect enquiry office, local collect Post Office® Branch, Preferred Neighbour or Safeplace®.

Exceptions do apply - Royal Mail will not show the location if the item is addressed to a PO Box or has been forwarded for Redirection, to maintain people’s privacy. In addition, the service will not be made available to the three islands (Jersey, Guernsey and Isle of Man) or for items addressed to British Forces Post Office (BFPO). Royal Mail can also configure which products the map view is enabled for; the initial view is that it will be available for all barcoded products.

Providing GPS delivery coordinates on our Track & Trace system enables customers to self-serve rather than enquire via a call into our customer service teams. Providing more proof regarding delivery of parcels using GPS delivery coordinates also mitigates fraudulent claims for non-delivery and should reduce compensation payments, which will benefit customers and our organisation.
