The great and good

‘You may not be the emergency services, but you keep the country moving’

I think we can all agree on that in these abnormal times, many of our customers have realised who’s really running the show: the key workers like us up and down the country, who are the absolute backbone of this country.

Without the NHS or us, without the teachers, pharmacists, supermarket employees, binmen and delivery drivers, we’d be in a much harder place.

With this in mind, we’d like to share just a fraction of the thousands of compliments we receive each month thanking colleagues for their exemplary service, keeping the country going during this unprecedented time.

‘I would like my sincere thanks to be passed onto the postman who showed great kindness to my grandmother-in-law. The gentleman noticed she was crying upon answering the door one day last week and asked if she was ok. She replied that she was feeling quite overwhelmed with current events. The following day, he presented her with a pot plant, and insisted she leave a note on the door if she wasn’t feeling ok. I cannot tell you how much this meant to her (she is 88 and registered blind). She is still talking about it this week and I really feel it’s restored her faith in humanity, which I feel is so important at this time. My husband and I are so very grateful. Please ensure our gratitude reaches this wonderful man!’

The team at Larg Delivery Office

‘The posties at Larg Delivery Office are very kind to me and always have a smile. When my doorbell was rung over Easter, alongside a wee parcel left on the doorstep was an Easter egg. This act of kindness for a vulnerable person really blew me away. Everyone working for the public right now deserves a medal.’

Postwoman, Tracey Young – Andover Delivery Office

‘We, as a family and as a business, would just like to say a huge thank you to all the posties and to Royal Mail for continuing to deliver an excellent and exemplary service. Of all the commercial brands, this is the one I now trust the most. I never thought anyone would get above John Lewis for me, but Royal Mail has proved its worth for Queen and country this year, as has our outstanding NHS. We have a postie here in Monxton, Hampshire. Her name is Tracey, and she is fabulous!’

Postman, Michael Holgate – Altrincham Delivery Office

‘My blind mother lives in sheltered accommodation at Newhaven in Tulip Drive Timperley near Altrincham. Yesterday she had a distanced conversation with her postman. It emerged that my mother did not have a thermometer to check her temperature. The postman said that he had a spare thermometer and would deliver it the next day. He was as good as his word and delivered the thermometer today and would not take any payment for it. Absolutely magnificent gesture of which you should be immensely proud.’

Hassan Aslam – Streatham Delivery Office

‘Hassan delivered me my contact lenses yesterday. He stood by the garden gate and told me that should we need anything during this surreal time, we only had to ask. “We are here for the community,” he said, before going on his way cheerfully.’

Postwoman, Michelle Squires – Rochester Delivery Office

‘Our postwoman Michelle is the epitome of professionalism. She always has a kind word, happy constitution and helpful manner. She was embarrassed to knock on the door and leave parcels at my feet due to Covid-19, but that wasn’t a problem. Please acknowledge her excellent work over the last two years and thank her. You may not be the emergency services, but you keep the country moving in so many other ways.’
