‘Thank you sew much’

‘Guaranteed reliability’ was why one customer chose Royal Mail

According to a survey conducted by Parcelhub, which interviewed 100 business to business and business to customer mid-market UK retailers, Royal Mail was the preferred carrier of choice.

Michelle Gregory, owner and ‘lead dyer’ of Banshee Yarns, is one small business customer, who has used Royal Mail since she founded her online dye studio, four years ago.

Michelle runs both Banshee Yarns and The Loveliest Yarn Company, which sells hand-dyed yarns, and knitting accessories and patterns, from her home in Derbyshire.

Having grown up in rural West Cork, which inspired the name and many of the colourways of Banshee Yarns, Michelle has been knitting since she was a little girl.

‘I’ve always loved knitting, and so I thought I would turn that love into a business,’ she said. ‘Returns for the first couple of years are always really small before people know who you are, particularly for online businesses, where it’s harder to build personal relationships with people.

‘We’ve gone from a few parcels a week to shipping 10-15 parcels a day. When you start a business and you don’t know that much about logistics, you need to consider what couriers you should use.

‘The most obvious choice was Royal Mail as you’re guaranteed such a reliable service. In the four years I’ve been trading, I have never lost a parcel from Royal Mail and I have never had a complaint about anything I’ve delivered. I think that’s a really good record.

‘Thank you so much. I can’t imagine having to go out every day visiting people’s homes and getting close to them. I certainly couldn’t run my business without you guys, so thank you again for all the hard work you’re doing.’
