Minimising contact

Squareful social distancing measures in Swadlincote

We’ve been following Government guidance on social distancing to help prevent the spread of coronavirus and keep our people and our customers safe.

This has obviously meant a number of changes across the operation, with colleagues keeping two-metres away from each other within units, wherever possible, as well as while out on delivery.

Individual units have been making their own changes, as colleagues at Swadlincote Delivery Office have so brilliantly been demonstrating.

Press play to see how the team in Derbyshire have been so effectively implementing their social distancing measures.

‘We’ve introduced the two-metre markings on the floor by the signing in sheets,’ said delivery office manager, Philippa Yeomans, ‘to ensure people don’t just walk in and follow their natural instinct of signing in.

‘By the Special Delivery locker, we’ve introduced a square, so if one person is in the square, nobody else is allowed to enter that square until they’ve got their Specials, their collection bags, and removed themselves from the square.’

‘The customer response has been really good,’ said postwoman Sam Rayson. ‘People are wishing us well and respecting that we need to maintain our distance. We’re maintaining our social distancing at all times and I get to have a nice walk every day.’
