Drive safe

‘The principles of safe driving are the same…now’s not the time to end up in A&E’

Coronavirus seems to have changed everything about our daily lives, and driving is no different.

Our drivers will have noticed that there are far fewer vehicles on the roads, the way we maintain vehicles has changed, and even some MOTs are being pushed back.

Even under normal conditions, driving for work is one of the most dangerous things we ask colleagues to do. The roads might feel safer at the moment, but it’s important to remember that it’s when you stop concentrating while behind the wheel, that accidents are more likely to happen.

Press play to hear from group road safety manager, Mark Bromhall, on the importance of daily vehicle checks and safe driving techniques.

‘With vehicle inspections being less frequent at the moment, it’s even more important than ever that drivers carry out a thorough vehicle check every day and report any defects to their manager,’ said Mark.

‘The principles of safe driving are the same. And our responsibility is to keep ourselves and the public safe. We’re all aware of the fantastic job the NHS are doing in keeping us safe at the moment.

‘The last thing we want to do is add to their burden. Now’s not the time to end up in A&E.’
