As we continue political engagement with the new Parliament, we took Labour MP Rupa Huq on a delivery in her Ealing North constituency.
She shared her positive impressions of the experience via Twitter afterwards, posting: ‘@RupaHuq – not the nicest weather to be out on a postie round, but good to accompany John from early start at @RoyalMail Ealing sorting office to his delivery route today in the rain.’
So far, this year, we’ve had four MP’s visit our delivery offices.
Following her visit to Loughborough Delivery Office, Conservative MP for Loughborough, Jane Hunt, said: ‘Thank you very much to Dean and all the other Royal Mail staff at Loughborough.
‘You do a great job. I have seen just how hard you work every time I’ve been out campaigning, but I saw this morning, just how much more there is to the job, in addition to walking a long way every day, rain or shine.’
Mrs Hunt also posted a thank you video message to colleagues in Loughborough on her Facebook page.
Conservative MP for Hastings and Rye, Sally-Ann Hart met colleagues at Hastings Delivery Office and joined postwoman, Abi Harding (pictured) on her round.
She also brought chocolates in for colleagues to thank them for all the hard work they do for customers in Hastings.
Senior public affairs manager, Michael Hogg, said: ‘MP’s are truly mesmerised at the scale of our operation when they visit and can see first-hand the challenges we face as the postbag continually evolves. They really appreciate the role postmen and women play in the local community and welcome the opportunity to visit and personally thank them for all their hard work throughout the year come rain or shine.
Also last month, Dr Kieran Mullan, Conservative MP for Crewe and Nantwich, met the team at Crewe Delivery Office. You can watch a video of his visit here, which includes an important message that the MP shared about keeping colleagues safe.
