Passion into parcels

Whatever their business size, customers just need to send on average of 20 or more parcels per week to qualify for a business account.
Around 1,000 businesses open a Royal Mail account every month. From marketplace sellers to large corporations, from Sameday or Next Day delivery to economy options — we design a courier service to suit them.
One such company, whose passion we helped turn into a business, is Mundial, a quarterly football magazine and creative studio. Click here to watch how.
Alongside its print publication, Mundial, which bills itself as the ‘number one multi-platform choice for the intelligent football fan,’ runs a website and weekly newsletter and sells its own merchandise online. Together these make up about half of its total revenue income. The other half comes from collaborations with brands, including Adidas and New Balance, on product launches through its creative studio arm.
‘We first had the idea for a one-off football magazine in 2014 for the World Cup in Brazil,’ said a Mundial spokesperson. ‘Then that sold out really quickly. People were asking “when’s the next one?” So, we had to do another!
‘We were just a bunch of mates chatting over texts not particularly happy with our jobs as writers or producers. We were all football fans, but we didn’t feel like we were represented by the football media.
‘It felt like it was an industry that was dominated by nerds who spent too much time on Wikipedia and it didn’t have the look and feel of the matchday experience. We thought there was a gap in the market and we might as well give it a go. It wasn’t until we did what has now become issue-zero. That’s when we thought “Hold on, there’s something in this!”
‘We use a mixture of services and tools like Click & Drop to help us streamline our orders, and as we’ve grown, it’s gone from just magazines to merchandise: from hoodies and socks and pin badges, to full tracksuits.
‘Our Royal Mail parcel delivery account really helped us get going, without that, we probably just wouldn’t exist.’
