Sleaford driver Roy praised for saving ‘thousands of relationships’

Sleaford driver Roy Ramsey has been praised by a valued customer for ‘saving a lot of relationships and marriages’ on Valentine’s Day.

Sleaford-based printing firm, DPS Digital, who count Moonpig - an online-based business selling personalised greeting cards, flowers and gifts, as one of their customers - had a serious problem just before Valentine’s Day.

Contract manager Dave Wood said: ‘Roy, who collects from DPS in Sleaford, was highly commended by the most senior customer contact at Moonpig after they had some problems with their printing press.

‘Roy, understanding the value and importance of cards that needed to be processed and delivered in time for Valentine’s Day, took the decision to wait past his official departure time to ensure the cards made it back to the mail centre.’

Moonpig shipping director, Tony Bannister, got in touch with Royal Mail and said: ‘If anyone gets the opportunity can you please, on behalf of Moonpig, thank Nottingham Collections and particularly, our regular driver Roy, for his flexibility and customer-first attitude as he potentially saved a lot of relationships and marriages!’

DPS managing director, Matt Savage emailed late shift distribution manager, Dan Vickers, from Nottingham Mail Centre, to say: ‘I just wanted to thank you and Roy for your exceptional service tonight. Between you both, you’ve completely changed my opinion of Royal Mail.

‘Your thinking out of the box, responsiveness and flexibility not only got us out of a big hole after our press went down, but you’ve also saved 1,000s of relationships. If you hadn’t have helped us out, 2,800 Valentine’s Day cards wouldn’t have landed on the big day.

‘You’ve also enabled us to keep our credibility with our clients. Massive, massive thanks from myself and the team at DPS.’

Roy and Dan (pictured) were invited over to DPS on Thursday 12 March, where they were thanked in person for their efforts.
