Moving soup

Today, Thursday 5 March, is World Book Day, an opportunity to encourage children throughout the world to explore the pleasures of books and reading.
World Book Day is marked in more than 100 countries and designated by UNESCO as a ‘worldwide celebration of authors, illustrators, books and reading.’
Postman, poet and published author of children’s books, Ben Davis from Tamworth Delivery Office, has a new book coming out in August called Soup Movement.
His last publishing sensation, What's That in Dog Years, which tells the story of a little boy named George and his beloved dog Gizmo, received rave reviews, including one from Peters, the UK's leading book supplier, calling it 'hilarious and utterly heartbreaking.'
Soup Movement charts the tale of Ethan, who as the new boy at school, gets enough funny looks as it is, without his mum giving him homemade soup every day for lunch!
When Ethan meets a homeless man called Harry, and gives him the soup, it is the start of an unlikely friendship. Soon the two of them begin giving soup to the other homeless people around town and when Ethan’s sister shares their antics on Instagram the #SOUPMOVEMENT begins.
Every World Book Day, Ben makes sure to use some of his annual leave so he can visit schools and inspire the next generation of writers. Check out his Twitter feed @bendavis_86 to see what he’s been up to this week.
‘I'm always busy visiting schools, doing talks and writing workshops,’ he said. ‘It's always great to see so many young people excited about books!’
