Key workers

We know that childcare is a significant challenge for many colleagues, particularly now the schools have closed.
We understand that childcare is always your key priority and we want to support you and your teams to manage this.
The Government has said that Royal Mail Group workers are included in the list of those whose work is critical to the Covid-19 response. We are connecting customers and communities, which is more important now than ever.
This means that if you or your team have school-age children who cannot be cared for at home, they will be able to continue to attend school, even though it has been announced that most schools are now closed.
Click here to download a letter, which confirms that you are a key worker for Royal Mail. Together with your identification card, you will need to take this letter to your children’s school. The letter applies for both Royal Mail and Parcelforce colleagues.
It’s important to note that official advice is to keep your children off school. If you have other options, including having family look after your children, you may want to consider that as an alternative.
If you or a member of your team has questions about coronavirus, please use the detailed Q&A on the coronavirus homepage. This is updated daily and contains information about prevention, pay and absence, ops process changes, cleaning and other issues of concern.
