Colleagues at Heathrow Worldwide Distribution Centre (HWDC) raised more than £2,000 after hosting various Valentine’s Day-themed fundraising events last month.

Teams across all three shifts at HWDC raised £2,167 in total, which will go towards their charity of choice, Sebastian’s Action Trust, supporting the families of local life-limited and seriously ill children from diagnosis through to treatment and beyond.

The HWDC night shift team raffled a bouquet of flowers, which was won by Paul Beardon, a member of the Avsec screening team. The team’s food sale also helped raise £600.

Bob Lawrence, international operations communication and engagement lead, said: ‘The HWDC late shift team really got into the spirit of Valentine's Day. They either wore red ties or dressed in red, they held a fantastic food sale, had a celebratory cake, sold DVDs, held a darts event and posed for photographs, which were sold to raise more cash. What a fantastic day it must have been!

‘Thanks to everyone who cooked, organised, sold things, played darts and more. Your efforts are really appreciated and you raised more than £820 on your shift!’

Meanwhile, the HWDC early shift team raised almost £750 from their food sale. They too wore red and had a celebratory cake. They even had a red rose sale. ‘A great time was clearly had by all!’ said Bob. ‘Thank you to everyone who organised, cooked, donated and worked so hard to make this such a success.

‘Once again, thank you to everyone who gave their time, effort and cash towards this fantastic, fundraising success. Sebastian's Action Trust are so grateful for our support for the families of children who are life-limited or seriously ill. The money raised will make a huge difference.’
