Proud Rovers

Hannah was proud to be a part of Blackburn Rovers’ One Rovers Day

When Blackburn Rovers played Fulham at home, they celebrated their annual ‘One Rovers Day’ to promote inclusion, value diversity and end discrimination.

As part of One Rovers Day, the club was pleased to support Kick It Out – the English football’s equality and inclusion organisation. Ahead of the game, the players wore One Rovers t-shirts during their warm up.

Escorting the players onto the pitch were longstanding fans representing some of the groups making up Blackburn’s diverse community, who got to shake hands with the opposition, and have photos put on their social media channels.

Recruitment services advisor, Hannah Parys (pictured back row, second left), from our Pond Street office, was one of the lucky few chosen to be a One Rovers representative. Not only was she selected to walk onto the pitch with the players, Hannah was also chosen to represent the LGBT Allies supporter’s group, ‘Proud Rovers.’

‘Blackburn Rovers is a great club due to how diverse and inclusive it is both with fans and players,’ said Hannah. ‘It’s really great that people can see this for themselves on days like One Rovers Day!’

Blackburn Rovers chief executive, Steve Waggott, said: ‘Blackburn Rovers is committed to ensuring everyone is welcome at Ewood Park and its associated premises. As a club, we recognise that we have an active role to play in valuing and encouraging diversity and promoting inclusion, and #OneRoversDay gives us the opportunity to celebrate these efforts with our fanbase and the local community.’
