Outstanding results
Service delivery leaders have been visiting delivery offices across the UK to present certificates of excellence and achievement to winners of the new CEO and COO Awards scheme.
The awards are sponsored by our CEO, Rico Back, and chief operating officer and chief finance officer, Stuart Simpson.
Held quarterly, the CEO and COO Awards recognise the units that score most highly across four key areas of performance measurement: safety, quality, cost and productivity (with a 25% equal rating across each measure.)
Awards are being presented to the ‘Small Delivery Office of the Quarter’ and ‘Larger Delivery Office of the Quarter’ in each region.
There is an additional quarterly award for processing and other sites (plants, regional and local distribution centres, collections units, vehicle operating centres and vehicle workshops), with service delivery directors and functional directors deciding the awards for these sites.
Iain Bates, delivery office manager at Staveley Delivery Office (pictured), winners of the Q1 and Q2 Awards for the Small Delivery Office for South Yorkshire and Lincolnshire, said: ‘We are a “small” delivery office with 33 walks and 51 staff. The staff have won this award – I’ve just got my hand on the tiller and am making sure we’re all going in the right direction.
‘It’s nice to be recognised. We wouldn’t have been able to achieve the success we have without everyone doing their bit.’
Chief operating officer and chief finance officer, Stuart Simpson, said: ‘I am very proud to be co-sponsoring our CEO and COO Awards, which we have launched this year.
‘This is an exciting opportunity for you to demonstrate and be recognised for excellent results and I’m looking forward to celebrating and recognising our “units of the year” at the end of the year.’
- All units are in the running each quarter for the title of ‘Unit of the Quarter’.
- At the end of the year, there will be four annual awards – ‘Small Delivery Office of the Year’, ‘Larger Delivery Office of the Year’, ‘Processing / Other Unit of the Year’ and a ‘Special Recognition Award’.
- The ‘Special Recognition Award’ will recognise one unit from across the country for outstanding achievement over the year, such as year-on-year improvement and colleagues’ achievements.
- For annual winners, there will also be money to spend at their unit - £25k for the ‘Smaller Delivery Office of the Year’ and £50k each for the ‘Larger Delivery Office’ and ‘Processing / Other Unit of the Year’ plus an equivalent sum for the ‘Special Recognition Award’.
