League table of love
To celebrate Valentine’s Day, we have revealed the most romantic towns and cities we deliver to in the UK, in 2020.
This year, London is the UK capital of love, boasting the highest number of romantic street names in the UK, with Bristol ranking second, and Chesterfield following in third place.
Across the UK we have found more than 2,000 streets containing love-themed names with Love Lane being the most common, adorning 239 road signs, followed by Rose Hill and Rose Street.
Our research also found that the S postcode including Sheffield and Derbyshire is the nation’s most romantic postal area - home to over 94 romantic-themed addresses, more than any other postcode area in the UK. The region is home to the likes of Rose Avenue, Valentines Road and Love Street.
The research also unveiled romance as being one of the most common inspirations for the nation’s house names. ‘Rose’ and ‘Dove’ Cottage are the most popular love-related houses that our postmen and women deliver to.
Steve Rooney, head of our Address Management Unit, said: ‘The capital is the UK’s city of love, as it boasts the most loved-up addresses. When it comes to expressing your love in words - nothing comes close to a hand-written card.
‘Valentine’s Day is a busy time for us so we would remind people to send their cards in good time so we can deliver your message to your loved one in time for 14 February.’
