‘Appy anniversary
The commercial and technology teams have been celebrating an amazing one million-plus downloads on the Royal Mail app this week.
It’s the first major milestone on a journey to becoming the go-to app for parcel sending, tracking and more.
Since its launch, the app has had significant development and launched some exciting features, including our Parcelbox Finder and the facility to track items on the go using Alexa.
We were also the first in the UK industry to launch an augmented reality (AR) parcel sizer. And we haven’t finished yet – there are even more developments and handy features in the pipeline.
The Royal Mail app is part of our commitment to investing in technology that improves the customer experience for both senders and recipients.
Chief customer officer Nick Landon, said: ‘The app is a great example of the Commercial and Technology teams working well together.’
What can you do with the app?
- Send an item in just a few steps, using the new augmented reality parcel sizer to find the right format size and price of your item before purchasing postage directly via the app.
- Access previous labels bought for postage by using the new sending history feature.
- Add a friendly alias name to the items you are tracking.
- Track an item on the go. If you have Alexa, you can track your delivery by saying an alias name you have previously assigned to an item.
- Save recently tracked items so you don't need to keep entering them again and again.
- See a photograph of the signature if someone has signed for your item, or the Safeplace an item has been delivered to.
- Book a Redelivery.
- Receive push notifications on your deliveries.
- Save postage receipts.
- And most recently, we launched our exclusive Postbox Finder to help customers find their nearest postbox, including parcel postboxes, Post Office branch and customer service point.
The app is available for download for free on the App Store and Google Play store. Please leave us a positive review on the App store as this helps to improve our overall rating score. If you’d like to leave any other feedback, you can email appsupport@royalmail.com.
