Simply the best

A street of Bristol residents expressed their gratitude to postman Colin Payne, in a letter sent to the city's South East Delivery Office.

Francine Russell wrote on behalf of Balmain Street, detailing how Colin always goes the extra mile and ensures that his customers receive the best service possible.

‘He’s an integral part of our community,’ said Francine. ‘He cares about his job and he cares about his customers. We have countless examples of Colin ensuring we all get our parcels delivered with minimum fuss and on time.

‘He knows many of us by name and remembers who lives where and notices who’s away on holiday.’

Such is the value placed on Colin, almost the entire street turned up for a photoshoot with their favourite postman to ensure he is given true recognition.

Colin has been a postman for almost 14 years, and says that this isn’t the first letter of praise he has received.

‘I’ve had a few letters of gratitude, actually,’ he said. ‘It’s obviously great to know that you’re appreciated.

‘I’ve been on this round for nearly five years and I know almost everyone by name. That’s around 800 people.

‘I think that’s what it’s about, knowing everyone and trying my best to ensure that everyone gets their parcels. I like everyone up there and they seem to like me!’
