Time to talk
An ‘open and honest’ discussion led to an engaging Town Hall event at Sandy Delivery Office, as colleagues heard more about our transformation plans.
Managing director of letters, Stephen Agar, visited the Bedfordshire office to answer colleagues’ questions on the issues that matter to them.
Subjects raised and discussed between frontline colleagues and Stephen included how we’re planning to change the parcels network, the decline in letters volumes, PDA Outdoor Actuals and how we can beat our competition.

‘We had a really engaging and open and honest time and I really enjoyed it,’ said Stephen. ‘The more we talked, the more questions I got, which is a really good sign.
‘The most interesting question for me was around PDA Outdoor Actuals. There is a suspicion that somehow the Company is checking where everybody is at every moment. Actually, we need that data for fairness between employees. We need that information to make sure the walks are equal and we can also use the data to give customers slots for when parcels arrive. It’s about modernising the business.’
Postman, Derek has only been with the business since March, and was keen to hear about our plans to grow.
He said: ‘I’ve come in fresh to a new strategy – letters are declining and parcels are going up – and that means a whole shift change in the way the business works. I wanted to find out how that impacts on my job in the next few years.’
Delivery office manager Paul added: ‘I think colleagues have gone away with brighter thoughts for the future.’
