Dream team in Maundene

Pat and Lenny are at it again, teaching kids across the South East about our amazing people

The Medway Mail Centre charity and community team have been busy entertaining little ones in schools across the South East and London.

Medway community champion Tim Hyde, said: ‘Our current commitment is to 15 primary schools, plus a couple of careers assemblies at secondary schools. We’re now well into the new school term and the visits are proving really popular.’

The pictures above are from Maundene Primary School in Walderslade, where Medway colleagues, Elliott Grunwell and Hayley Excel, dressed as Postman Pat and Lenny the Letter, have been helping Tim describe the journey of a letter.

‘These visits always go down really well and give the children an understanding of the important role our people play in their communities across the country,’ said Tim. ‘We’re currently linking up schools that we’ve already visited in London to some of the more rural schools, to set up a pen pal network as part of the literacy curriculum.’

Medway colleagues, Chariza Usana, Hayley Excell and Elliott Grunwell give up their own time to support this amazing work and are great examples of our people promoting the business and our values to the next generation.

An example of recent feedback from one of the schools Tim and the team visited in London recently, reads: ‘I’m Chloe, the programme manager at Inspire! EBP in Hackney. I just wanted to let you know that last Friday, Tim Hyde and his team delivered their first Lenny the Letter workshop of this academic year, as part of our Work Week programme at Morningside Primary School…and the school and pupils absolutely loved it!

‘The session really complimented their work-related learning on our programme and Tim and his team were very engaging and inspiring!’
