Our Trucking Teds, Rowlan and Hilda are selling raffle tickets on behalf of our in-house charity, the Rowland Hill Fund

Two new Logistics colleagues have been making their way around our distribution hubs selling raffle tickets on behalf of our in-house charity, the Rowland Hill Fund (RHF).

Rowlan D Hill and Hilda – Royal Mail’s new ‘Trucking Teds’ – have completed their vehicle training and are now on a mission to raise as much money as possible for the Fund, helping colleagues past and present, who find themselves struggling financially.

The campaign was the brainchild of enabling performance manager, Barry Lloyd and Medway community champion, Tim Hyde. In short, our latest colleagues are two 5ft-tall brown bears who were saved from the retail rainforest and are now being fostered by the Performance and Efficiency team until a permanent home can be found for them in time for Christmas.

Setting out from South East Distribution Centre on Tuesday 5 November, Rowlan and Hilda have been, and will be, touring the country via our Logistics network, senior team leader meetings, Springboard workshops and other locations to be confirmed.

Rowlan’s first stop was 121 miles away at National Distribution Centre (NDC) where he raised a fantastic £158 in raffle tickets. Meanwhile, Hilda assisted with a cake sale prior to attending a women’s Springboard event at South East Walk Bundling Centre in Rochester, Kent.

Keep your eyes peeled for our furry couple as Rowlan and Hilda’s epic road trip is due to end on Wednesday 18 December at the Rowland Hill Christmas party at the Phoenix Centre in London.

Shan Lawrence, RHF communications manager, said: ‘You can have a free teddy cuddle, but please buy a raffle ticket, have your photo taken and send them on their way with a smile. Thanks so much to Barry Lloyd and Tim Hyde for this fantastic idea…keep on trucking!’
