Window of opportunity

Throughout this week’s Rowland Hill Fund (RHF) Fundraising Week, we’ll be bringing you stories of serving and former colleagues, who have received support from our in-house charity.
In 2017-2018, the Fund gave £500,000 to our people, helping them with council tax arrears, medical expenses, disability aids, funeral expenses, household items and more - issues that can affect all of us at any point in our lives.
The RHF aims to continue to make financial grants to those who need it, but can only do so with your fundraising support in keeping the work of the Fund alive.
Former Edinburgh postman, Brian Moir, worked for the business for more than 25 years, taking ill health retirement in 1996.
Brian has prostate cancer, high blood pressure and Type 2 diabetes. His wife, Patricia suffers with general anxiety disorder (GAD), chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) and fibromyalgia. Steven, their son, is registered blind, has severe learning disabilities, autism, epilepsy, obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), high blood pressure, high cholesterol and is double incontinent.
Brian and Patricia, while having their own health issues, are the main carers for Steven and often find themselves struggling with finances. Their home is very important for the general wellbeing of the family and therefore when their windows needed replacing, Brian approached the Fund for help.
The RHF was happy to support Brian and his wife by contributing £2,000 towards their replacement windows.
