That’s the spirit!

Jacqueline had the honour of delivering a birthday telegram from The Queen, to her own granny

Laurencekirk postwoman, Jacqueline Bremner had the honour of delivering a birthday telegram from Her Majesty, The Queen, to her very own granny.

Jacqueline’s grandmother, Elizabeth Cruickshank, recently celebrated her 100th birthday.

Residents and staff of her care home, Burnside Nursing Home in Borrowmuir Hills, Laurencekirk, held a birthday party for their star guest and invited her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren to help celebrate her special day.

‘It was such a privilege reading out The Queen’s birthday message to Granny,’ said Jacqueline. ‘She was the life and soul of every social event she ever went to and was always known as “everyone’s granny”.

‘She always said that the key to living a long and happy life was having a regular toot of the old Famous Grouse!

‘I’ve worked at Royal Mail for over 17 years now, but I never thought that when I started in January 2002, I’d be handing over a telegram from The Queen to celebrate my own granny’s 100th birthday.’
