In loving memory

The Rowland Hill Fund helped Samantha and Trevor with funeral expenses

This week’s Rowland Hill Fund (RHF) Fundraising Week has been a great opportunity for colleagues to support our in-house charity.

The Fund helps both serving and former colleagues, who find themselves struggling financially. In 2017-2018, the Fund gave £500,000 to our people, helping them with utility bill arrears, funeral expenses, disability aids, household items and more.

Thank you to everyone for getting behind the RHF this week and throughout the year. It’s only with your fantastic fundraising support, that the Fund can continue helping our people when they need it most.

This week, we have been bringing you stories of how the Fund has helped colleagues, both past and present.

Postwoman, Samantha Laudin has worked for the business for 15 years and is currently based at Nailsea Delivery Office.

Tragically, on 3 July 2019, Samantha’s husband Jeffery, who suffered with mental health issues, committed suicide, leaving Samantha and their two children aged 19 and 16-years-old.

The Fund supported Samantha by contributing £1,000 towards funeral expenses

Former postman, Trevor Smith worked at Dorking Delivery Office for 15 years, before retiring in 2018.

Trevor lived in a rented property with his wife, Gillian, until very sadly, Gillian passed away in July 2019, after suffering from heart failure and metastatic cancer.

The Fund supported Trevor with £1,000 towards funeral expenses.
