Berry well done!

Mark Keen (Operations Manager, Tonbridge LD) awarded the unit’s Employee of the Month honours to Chris Berry, for literally going many extra miles to complete a delivery!
Mark explained that Chris covers the TN19 and TN32 postcode sectors, which embrace a large rural area that is dotted with remote properties. Mid-August this year, Chris had a parcel for delivery to Darwell Wood Cottage, which lies in the middle of some woodland, right on the southern border of Chris’s delivery area. At that point in time, the only road that leads to this address was closed some three miles from the entrance to the property, due to the relaying of drainage pipes.
“To complete this delivery, Chris had to take a detour of a 13-mile round trip into the neighbouring area,” reported Mark. “Chris decided that he would continue to complete his workload, so as not to put any of the other parcels at risk, and then deliver to Darwell Wood Cottage at the end of the day.”
Conversely, it would have been very easy, for Chris to have put down “road closed”, and bring the item back, for a later delivery - especially as he had to go in the completely opposite direction to make the delivery, and this put him over his time. "This showed real customer service and dedication,” said Mark. “It also makes him very deserving of the award.”
