Royal Mail Group named ‘Global Leader’ in the Dow Jones sustainability indices

Royal Mail Group has once again been named as the top-scoring global sustainability leader of the Transportation and Transportation Infrastructure Industry category in the Dow Jones Sustainability Indices.

The business came in at number one on a list of more than 60 other organisations in the transportation sector including ground-breaking logistics businesses.

We aim to be independently rated as one of the most responsible companies in the UK and Europe and we have been named as the industry leader in the indices for five of the six years we have been eligible for inclusion since our flotation.

The assessment benchmarks companies' sustainability performance against economic, social and environmental criteria compared with peers from around the world.

Royal Mail Group was assessed on its performance in a number of areas such as social reporting, corporate citizenship and philanthropy, environmental reporting and supply chain management. The review also examined corporate governance, human capital development, labour practice indicators and human rights, risk and crisis management.

Lily Heinemann, head of corporate responsibility & community investment, said:'We are thrilled that Royal Mail Group has been recognised as a global sustainability leader once again in our industry, as this prestigious benchmark celebrates its 20th anniversary.

‘To be awarded as the industry leader demonstrates our commitment to being a sustainable and responsible company for the communities we serve and the thousands of people we employ nationally and internationally.’
