Action for Children’s Blues Programme celebrates two years of blues-busting this October

Thanks to the support of Royal Mail, Action for Children’s pioneering mental health initiative, the Blues Programme will be celebrating its two-year anniversary this October.

Action for Children will be kicking off a programme of activity to celebrate this milestone on World Mental Health Day on Thursday 10 October and finishing with their Blues Programme social media takeover day on Thursday 17 October.

Funded by Royal Mail, the Blues Programme is an internationally acclaimed evidence based ‘blues busting’ course for young people aged 13-19, who are struggling with, or at risk of developing a mental health issue.

To celebrate the success of the initiative, Action for Children’s mental health team will be sharing tools and techniques to support positive emotional wellbeing for both colleagues and children. Additionally, they will share some quick and easy fundraising ideas focused on beating the blues so that they can continue to support more young people across the UK.

On average, every classroom in Britain has three children with a diagnosable mental health illness. The Blues Programme aims to reduce the signs of adolescent low mood and negative thoughts and promote prevention. Thanks to Royal Mail, more than 3,000 young people have already completed the course, in 116 schools across 10 locations.

Royal Mail and Action for Children are working together to deliver better youth mental health across the UK. If you have any questions or would like further information at this stage, please email Vicky at RoyalMail@actionforchildren.org.uk.
