Great spot Linda

Postwoman Linder Dagger from Blackburn Delivery Office has been praised for spotting and stopping a number of incorrectly paid parcels.
Parcel fraud contributes significantly to the unpaid mail problem, which is costing us millions of pounds every year.
Area collection manager Paul Fisher, said: ‘When I met the revenue protection team in Preston recently I was advised that Linda had identified a number of incorrectly paid parcels, contacted the revenue team and arranged to forward these for surcharging. The items were all from the same company.
‘In July, no less than 13 yorks of mail from this company were intercepted and the parcels surcharged. There were approximately 100 parcels per york, and while parcel size and surcharge varied, the potential revenue recovery was just over £5,000.
‘The 2D barcode indicated that only 86p per item had been paid and had this not been spotted the customer would have only paid £1,118 for us to collect, process, transport and deliver their items.
‘Linda is an experienced collection driver who is very passionate about protecting our revenue and her diligence whilst performing her job is exemplary.’
‘With the help of my colleagues I was really pleased we were able to identify this customer,’ said Linda. ‘This kind of fraud clearly costs Royal Mail significant amounts of money every year, so it was good to find out just how much money had been saved as a result.’
