Sharon Mcguinnity – Islington Delivery Office (pictured)

‘Sharon was my 95-year-old grandmother's postwoman until my nan died in March. Sharon always found time to have a quick chat with my nan when delivering to my nan's block of flats. It might have just been a few words about the number of bills being delivered or the weather, but that little chat every day meant a great deal to my nan, as she lived alone. My Nan saw family members most evenings but the days were very long, so she loved her little chats with Sharon. When my nan was admitted into hospital and wasn't at home, Sharon popped round on her day off to ask neighbours if they knew how she was and even managed to find time to pay her respects on the day of the funeral. She is a credit to Royal Mail and a hero of the community. Thank you, Sharon, from all our family.’
