Supporting BAME progress
At Royal Mail Group we are committed to recognising and rewarding diverse talent and to supporting and facilitating progression for BAME (Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic) colleagues, as well as all other employees.
As a designated Race Champion Partner of BITC (Business in the Community), Royal Mail took part in the cross-organisational mentoring circles cohort 6 programme to take targeted action, which aims to provide mentoring to BAME employees from partner organisations, in order to support progression, unlock talent and impact BAME under-representation at senior levels.
Manoj Vadher, head of engineering reliability and people development, acted as a lead mentor for the latest programme along with other members of the mentoring circle from Deloitte, Ministry of Defence, Santander Bank, National Grid, Essentra PLC and Enterprise Rentals.
Manoj said: ‘It was a very rewarding experience to see that you can make such a huge difference to an individual’s career and personal development in all aspects of life, as well as benefiting from meeting people from other organisations and understanding their journey.’
We are now looking to identify employees to participate in this action learning programme, either as mentees or as mentors for cohort 7 starting in January 2020. The attached document provides further information on the programme and nominations should be made through local HR business partners by 30 August.
