Hive of activity

Our new strategy is set to play a ‘huge role’ in the growth of Centrica’s new Hive product

Our increase in automation is a crucial part of our plan to change our future as we adapt to the challenges we face.

We need to change in line with market demand and ensure our network is set up to deliver larger parcels and next day items – key growth areas – as efficiently as possible.

Centrica is one of our biggest and closest commercial partners, and our new strategy is set to play a ‘huge role’ in the growth of its smart home brand - Hive.

Hive is one of the world’s leading smart home providers, with more than 1.5 million customers worldwide. Hive Link is the company's latest service, which helps users look after loved ones who live alone and want to maintain their independence.

Sensors get to know the person’s routine, then if something unusual happens – such as the front door being left open for longer than usual – a notification will be sent to the carer’s smartphone.

Hive products are collected from one of our many nationwide collection points before being installed by an engineer from sister company British Gas, while smaller Hive products that users can install themselves are delivered by us.

‘Working with such a trusted partner in Royal Mail, we’re able to help more customers than ever before get their hands on their Hive purchases the very next day,’ said Frances Pringle (pictured), Centrica Hive’s global head of supply chain.

‘The introduction of great new initiatives, such as a second daily delivery for online orders, will play a huge role in our mission to continue the growth of the Hive brand in the UK – and we’re excited by what the future holds for our partnership.’
