Colourful characters

Picture the scene. It’s 11am and a beautiful bright blue sky; the birds are singing; lungsful of fresh, crisp air and the blood’s pumping around the body, carrying you along to the next expectant customer, hoping you’ll bring the thing they’ve been waiting for.
A postcard from a loved one abroad, a school report in which they know their child has excelled or simply those new pair of memory foam slippers they decided their feet were deserving of. It all matters.
Of course, from time to time, some challenges have to be overcome but with a little can-do attitude and some positivity, challenges can evolve into triumphs. A sudden downpour becomes a refreshing spritz. A steep hill becomes, an I-can-skip-the-gym-later-guilt-free excuse. And a tricky gate becomes good brain training. But when the chips are down and the round is big or the workload heavy, we always do our best to deliver. Whatever the weather, under pressure or not, resilience, adaptation and positivity is the recipe to success.
In my fledgling tenure with Royal Mail I’ve had the opportunity to develop these skills with the support of some of the most helpful, humorous and dedicated people I’ve ever worked with. Colourful characters, both in and outside the office, make each day as interesting as the last. Variety is the spice of a fulfilling job, so they say. I just wish these dogs would consider my feelings and actually get to know me before they cast their barky judgements.
