Mark Lawrenson, service delivery leader for North West Midlands, held a town hall visit at Wolverhampton North East Delivery Office, where he spoke directly to colleagues and answered their questions.
Around 30 colleagues attended the session to hear about the Royal Mail’s future strategy, and why the business needs to change to accommodate the direction the business is going in.
Mark said: ‘It’s a bright future. Our strategy will support the growth in parcels and take some of the weight off deliveries. We’re presently a letters company delivering parcels, but we will become a parcels company that delivers letters.’
Postman Paul Oakley says: ‘It’s a necessary plan because of the growth of online shopping and the reduction in the letters traffic.
‘The business does need to change and this is the way to do it.’
‘It’s massive for people to understand that there is going to be massive changes within our company and we have to take that in,’ adds postwoman Sharon Welling. ‘It’s a change that’s got to be all the way through the company.’
Among the topics covered during the Q&A were how the future landscape looks and working relationships with Parcelforce.
