Future colleagues?

Schoolchildren learned about the journey letters take, when colleagues from Medway Mail Centre visited their schools.
Charity champion Tim Hyde, graduate Sophie Triggs, former apprentice Elliott Grunwell and postwoman Chariza Usana, visited Northwick Park Primary School in Essex (pictured) and Walderslade Girls School in Chatham.
‘When we visited Northwick Park Primary School we spoke to all of year R, I and 2,’ said Tim. ‘Lenny the Letter and Postman Pat also made special appearances to tell the journey of a letter.
‘Then later in the day we held a careers afternoon, sharing the wide range of employment opportunities and apprenticeships that Royal Mail offers and some of the amazing facts about our massive business.
‘We have been doing school visits for years at Medway and we wanted to encourage other sites to do the same, going into schools to promote the business to the next generation. I’m hoping to engage our people and show them how rewarding it is for both the children and us as Royal Mail employees to do these visits.’
Lenny the Letter has also been seen using one of our newest electric vans to do a tour of the mail centres in the South region, checking in on how the 2019 Ops Challenge has been going at each site.
‘This was an opportunity for mail centre colleagues to see the van up close and ask questions,’ said Tim. ‘We have also been trying to build a network of regional fundraisers to leave a legacy of fundraising after this year’s Ops Challenge ends on 31 July.’
