We published our Corporate Responsibility Report for 2018-19 last week. The report covers our people and our contribution to local communities. 

Our people play an important role in achieving our strategic priorities. We rely on them to deliver high quality customer service, to fulfil the Universal Service, and to represent Royal Mail among our customers and communities. Engaging our people within a fair, rewarding and customer-focused culture is essential for our success.

Did you know?

  • Royal Mail was named a Times Top 50 Employer for Women for the sixth consecutive year.
  • We invested nearly £6.9 million in training, delivering the equivalent of around 17,000 training days.
  • Royal Mail makes the 7th largest contribution of any UK company to the UK economy.

  • The money raised for Action to Children to date has funded the delivery of the Blues Programme to 1,300 children – a new nationwide programme of mental health support for young people in schools across the UK,
  • Royal Mail has established six diversity steering groups, open to all employees with an interest in this area and includes; women, Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic, LGBT+, Disability, Parents and Carers, and Youth & Friends.

Our performance 2018-19

  • Our employee engagement score increased by one point to 60 – our highest ever engagement score. 
  • We reduced both our Lost Time Accident Frequency Rate (9.2 per cent reduction from 2017-18), and our Road Traffic Collisions (reduction of 5.3 per cent from 2017-18 levels).
  • We raised around £850,000 for our charity partner, Action for Children. Since our partnership began in 2017, we have raised over £1 million to fund the Blues Programme, a preventive mental health programme for schools across the UK.
  • Royal Mail contributed around £5.8 million to charities and good causes this year, with colleagues raising a further £3.1 million, including £2.4 million through our award-winning payroll giving scheme.
