Celebrating diversity

Royal Mail’s float was “Pride” of place at London’s biggest party

It was London Pride this weekend, and millions of partygoers were out in force celebrating the LGBT+ community.

Once again, the Royal Mail float was a popular edition to the festivities as our people came to celebrate with family, friends and colleagues.

Claire Darragh has worked at Southend Delivery Office for 15 years and attended London Pride with us for the first time this year, though she has been as a spectator in the past.

‘I travelled up on my own but I had a brilliant time with everyone there,’ she says.

Royal Mail’s trans network chair Julia Casson said the day was once again a fantastic success. ‘It was so lovely to have lots of new colleagues join us, as well as reunite with our long-standing LGBT & friends family,’ she said.  ‘It was great to see so many of our colleagues being a part of it, proudly wearing their iconic ‘Delivering with Pride’ T-shirts. That gives you goosebumps and makes you really proud to work for Royal Mail!

‘What a fantastic way to start this summer’s Pride season, we can’t wait for Newcastle, Liverpool, Belfast and Cardiff.’

Royal Mail also marched proudly in support of UK Black Pride on Sunday, Europe’s largest celebration for LGBT+ people of African, Asian, Caribbean, Middle Eastern and Latin American descent.
