’Everything looks great’
Our new Warrington parcels hub, which will cover the equivalent of four and a half football pitches and handle 600,000 items a day, is almost ready.
Watch the RMtv video above to get a glimpse inside the new state of the art building and hear what colleagues, who are about to move in, think about their new site.
Eddie Douglas, plant manager at North West Distribution Centre (NWDC), said: ‘As you can see the building is almost ready. We’re about to start moving some machinery in, not the full automated kit yet, but we’ll be operating out of here by August.’
When asked what they were most looking forward to, Chris Wong, NWDC traffic office manager, said: ‘Just the new opportunities, new customers and the opportunity for us as a region to grow.
‘In the last four years the number of parcels has grown exponentially. Obviously, the automation will help us going forward and stay ahead of the competition.’
NWDC workplace coach, Ste Sinnott, said: ‘I’m really looking forward to the move. It’s a brand new state of the art building and everything looks great.’
Lizzie Evans, NWDC traffic office manager, said: ‘I think it’s a really good location for our new site. It’s really close to the M62 and the M6 and it’s in the middle of Manchester and Liverpool. It’s a great location for us as a business going forward.’
