Eid Mubarak

Tonight, Tuesday 4 June, marks the end of Ramadan and the start of Eid al-Fitr, a sacred religious event celebrated by Muslims worldwide.
Usually celebrated over one, two or three days, the ‘festival of breaking of the fast’ is observed by attending communal prayers before sitting down with family and friends for their first daylight meal after fasting.
After this, people visit family and friends to exchange gifts and well wishes. They also share traditional sweets to mark the end of the fasting period, and greet each other by saying ‘Eid Mubarak’ - roughly translated as ‘Blessed feast’ or ‘Happy Holiday.’
Eid celebrations are seen as a time of forgiveness and of giving thanks to Allah for helping people to complete their spiritual fasting. Many Muslims display this thanksgiving by giving food and other donations to those less fortunate than themselves.
Remember, giving a card to colleagues is a great way to say thank you or to celebrate birthdays and festivals such as Eid al-Fitr.
