‘Exemplary service’

‘He brightens anyone's day and he always says hello with a smile,’ and more customer praise…

A very grateful customer has wished Kilmarnock postman Billy McKie, who retired in May, a very happy retirement. Thank you for your service Billy.

David in Hexham, the people of Newbrough salute you, Noel in Barnsley, thank you for your daily cheer, and to Dan in Taunton, you’re ‘a great role model for Royal Mail.’

Below is a small sample of the praise we receive from grateful customers every week.

‘I felt it important to share that Billy has been our regular postman for a number of years. During this time, he has provided us with an exemplary service. He has always been friendly and helpful and nothing is ever a bother. He has taken time with those who needed it and is well known for his happy disposition in our neighbourhood. News of his retirement has been met with disappointment, but recognition that he now deserves to have some quality time for himself. I know I speak on behalf of many of our neighbours, who would like to wish him well.

‘I just wanted to say our regular postman is a genuinely nice guy. Both the wife and I have had nothing but pleasant interactions with him and he really seems to go out of his way to make a good impression. It very much gives the impression that Royal Mail is a good place to work!’

David Ainsley – Hexham Delivery Office

‘My grandmother died recently and her funeral was yesterday. We just wanted to make you aware of how helpful and important David Ainsley is to the people of Newbrough. His name came up several times during the day and he even popped his head in the door of the wake to apologise for being unable to attend the funeral and sent his condolences to our family.’
