Loving letterboxables - Garçon Wines ensure wine lovers never have to be home for a delivery

The UK subscription box market is forecast to grow by 72% by 2022, according to our report on the UK Subscription Box Boom, which has received widespread coverage across the media.

The market is forecast to be valued at £1 billion by 2022, compared to the £583 million estimated spend in 2017. This will see the number of deliveries each year grow from 40.1 million to an estimated 65.3 million.

The spectacular rise of subscription boxes has largely been driven by start-ups. The low barriers to entry in the subscription box market have meant that even with limited capital and resources, entrepreneurs can establish and build a successful business.

One such business, is Garçon Wines, the inventor of flat, sustainable and letterboxable wine bottles. Garçon wines are revolutionising wine delivery and improving the retailing, logistics and eco-friendliness of wine, enabling great wine to be delivered not just to a customer’s front door, but crucially, through their letterbox too.

Santiago Navarro, co-founder and CEO of Garçon Wines, said: ‘We're the inventors and granted IP holders of a flat wine bottle designed specifically for e-commerce and home delivery, ensuring the bottle can easily go through the supply chain between winery and dining table.

‘The Royal Mail service and the good fortune that most homes have a letterbox in their front door ensures direct and safe access for the wine bottle into the house.’

Made in the UK from 100% recycled PET and 100% ‘recyclable after,’ the bottles used by Garçon Wines are tough enough to withstand the rigours of the postal system yet light enough to keep down delivery costs.

‘Our flattened design means they fit easily through the letterbox – a hassle-free, environmentally friendly way to receive wine,’ said Mr Navarro. ‘Letterboxable items are very popular both from a consumer perspective and a business perspective, primarily because of the deliverable nature of the product.

‘A letterboxable and hence deliverable bottle of wine allows you to deliver safely into customer’s homes on every occasion. Customers hate to wait around and if you look at the e-commerce shopping statistics, customers often abandon their shopping cart because they’re afraid they’ll miss the delivery. By successfully delivering on every occasion, there’s no waiting around for the consumer and we as a business, can cut the carbon footprint of our deliveries.’

We have a strong proposition in letterboxable parcels. Our combined letters and parcels delivery network gives us an advantage over our competitors, with the UK’s biggest by far “feet on the street” network of 90,000 postmen and women. From cakes to wine, we’re helping small and medium businesses grow.
