Coming soon...
As part of our strategy to continue innovating in parcels to help retain and win new business, we are introducing the UK’s first ever parcel postboxes in locations across the UK, following a successful trial in 2018.
In what will be the first major repurposing of our postboxes in the last 160 years, we will convert 1,400 pre-existing meter boxes into parcel postboxes as their wider aperture and secure design make them ideal for holding larger pre-paid items.
The new postboxes will start appearing in August and the introduction is expected to take six months. Collections will then be handled by area collections teams.

Supporting small businesses
The wide scale introduction of parcel postboxes is one of the ways we are looking to make our service more flexible and convenient for our customers.
We are supporting the growth in e-commerce in the UK and adding more posting options for small businesses and marketplace sellers, who will soon be able to post parcels, pre-paid via Click & Drop, through securely designed postboxes in the same way they currently post letters.
This offers them an alternative to using their local Post Office. Customers will also be able to post some barcoded returns parcels back at any time, seven days a week.
We’re making our customers’ lives easier; adding flexibility for online sellers who might be running a business in their spare time and not keeping regular office hours.
Tony Mead, from the T-Shirt Printing Company, Northampton, said: ‘Parcel postboxes would give us the opportunity to use Royal Mail for a wider range of parcel sizes.’
