‘We need to step up’
We all know the business is facing challenging times, but it’s important that colleagues understand we must change to help grow our business.
Customer expectations have changed and our competition has increased. Play the video above to hear colleagues share what they think are some of our biggest challenges.
OPG, Fayaz Dur, from Birmingham Mail Centre, said: ‘We need to step up and keep on top of everything.’
Postwoman, Michell Baptiste, from Luton Delivery Office, said: ‘There’s so much new technology out there with people wanting their mail at set times. There are so many challenges that we need to think about.’
So how are we tackling these challenges?
Director of corporate strategy, Arthur Steinbock tells us more: ‘The UK is one of the most competitive parcels markets in the world. We are the market leader and the way we stay that way, first and foremost, is to continue to uphold superior quality.’
In terms of how we are implementing our new technology, Arthur said: ‘There are two fronts. Firstly, we’re making more features that are interesting for customers and recipients, so it’s more convenient for them to receive their mail and their parcels.
‘But we’re also engaging with colleagues. For instance, via the PDAs to make their jobs easier and more effective.’
When asked what we are doing to improve in parcels, Arthur said: ‘We’re phenomenally successful in parcels. Royal Mail Tracked is the fastest growing parcel product in the UK.
‘We’re improving by introducing new features such as delivery notifications and parcel drop boxes and – I can’t emphasise this enough – by ensuring our quality is as high as possible.’
