A fantastic £1,075 was raised for our in-house charity, the Rowland Hill Fund (RHF) at a long service event hosted by service delivery leader Simon Scott from Leeds Mail Centre.
Project planning co-ordinator Leanne Lyons and delivery area support manager Janet Sheard from Manchester Mail Centre and Hebden Bridge Delivery Office organised a raffle at the event, which was held at The Queens Hotel in Leeds.
‘Janet and I worked hard all day, with the help of Karen Scott, selling raffle tickets for prizes such as a Fitbit, a supercar experience, flowers, a photoshoot, champagne and gin sets, fragrance sets and of course, some Easter Eggs!’ said Leanne.
‘Leeds plant manager Rob Davies, led the ticket draw and made a speech referring to one of his team who was currently absent from work due to cancer. The RHF had helped him greatly during this time by paying four months of his mortgage. It was a really great day of not only fundraising but raising awareness too. Thank you to everyone for all their support.’
Both Leanne and Janet are North region ambassadors for the Fund, which helps colleagues, pensioners and their immediate families with financial and practical support.
The Fund distributes grants of around £400,000 to individuals and families in need every year, helping with general household items, rent, mortgage, council tax and utility bill arrears, home and heating repairs, hospital expenses and disability aids.
